The context

Hogan By You is the first shoe configurator by TOD’S Group, created in 2016 for the Hogan brand by Crispy Bacon.
This project was first released on Limited Edition Series. Then, in 2018 thanks to its success the tool was rapidly extended also to other footwear items: the H222 for women, and the H365 for men.

The initial brief asked for the development of a product configurator that reflected the purest and most profound soul of the Hogan brand, those unique attributes that has established this iconic fashion brand. Crispy Bacon scored high on this goal. We created a product configurator that could be used both at the traditional store and on the eCommerce website, a tool capable of making
clients truly perceive the high-quality finishing and the properties of the materials and craftsmanship.

 

We achieved a level so engaging that customers can almost breathe the scent of the skin, feel the quality and experience the “soul” of the products as if they could hold them in their
own hands.

The challenge.

The product configurator is a delicate component, a fundamental tool for customizing garments and fashion accessories, ultimately a crucial key for a leading fashion brand.

The tool was therefore designed first with the goal to be easy to use.

Secondly, the challenge was on the configuration process.

Thanks to our strong know-how we could pin point the right technology that allowed to use the same software framework for both the web and the mobile app.

Utilising the Angular advanced building platform opened up the possibility to create a web app that could link to an existing eCommerce section, integrating the product customisation process with the given control flow. Thanks to Ionic technology, part of the code written in Angular could also be re-used to create a hybrid mobile app, which enabled the representation of the shoes at the store, the integration and the generation of a bar code and the tool for collecting customer data thus supporting sales lead strategies.

The solution

In 100% Made in Italy edition, users were able to customize their footwear.

Buying, being inspired, configuring, all through a mobile app, at the store or on the eCommerce website. Will it be the bottom, the heels, the laces, the letters or emojis, all can be done on your own Hogan shoes. Once the configuration is confirmed the footwear enters productions: hand-made by artisans from the Marche region. These artisans, thanks to an automated process, receive a document with all the necessary specifications, including shipping address and delivery times.

Shining above all ingenious technologies created by Crispy Bacon was the image generation engine. This software is able to mold the chosen shape in real-time, through different perspectives, generating also sharing links, thus making the product go-viral in no time on all social networks.

 

The use of disruptive methodologies, approaches and technologies allowed us to complete the development in just forty days, resulting in significant cost savings for the Hogan brand.

But this wasn’t all.

Thanks to the strong media impact generated by five internationally renowned influencers who launched their own custom shoes live, the five hundred pieces estimated for the limited edition sold out instantly and entirely.

None of this wouldn’t have been possible without the value added by the human capital which is foundational on all Crispy Bacon project: the ability to effectively team-work with other companies’ people, in this case Alpenite, Italian Touch, Accenture and the Style Office by Hogan.
